KING CHARLES CORONATION YEAR

The year 2023 being the King Charles coronation year, I would like to honour this occasion by introducing my portrait of HM King Charles III, in various reproductions in which, if I may say so, I think I have succeeded in capturing the pensive nature of the monarch.

He loves nature, and here, in my King Charles painting, we see him set against a landscape which could be in Scotland or Wales, or in Northern Ireland or England; it could indeed be in Canada, say, or in New Zealand, or in any of the Commonwealth countries; and this is the point: he is there for all of us, and I wish to celebrate it with this King Charles Portrait.

In the distance it rains, but there is a rainbow, bringing with it the promise of sunshine, a symbol of happy days to come, and we already see this sunshine falling on the distant bay.  In my King Charles portrait he is looking slightly towards his left, almost as if he were half aware of the presence of the rainbow developing behind him.

In this portrayal of King Charles III he is wearing a pin-striped suit, which we often see him wearing, and a violet-coloured tie, deliberately suggestive of the royal purple.
